G-G-G-Ghosts…

During the English Renaissance, many superstitions concerning ghosts existed because the people of that time wanted to ward off evil spirits and bad luck. One element of the supernatural that many people were scared of during the Renaissance was witches. They blamed ghosts and witches for bad crops or sick livestock. They also thought that if you were visited by a ghost, or an unrestful spirit, that they were coming to speak to you about revenge or they wanted them to finish something for them that they didn’t have time to finish themselves.

Some of those superstitions still exist today. We still see ghosts as unsettled spirits that are yet to move on. Most people just like the fear of ghosts and like to scare themselves. Others think they are here to give someone a message, or just to say hey.

There’s a book in our family called Ghosts and Haunts of the Appalachain Foothills. It talks about a lot of haunted places around here, like Tate and Talking Rock and the different places you can go to see something. But honestly, I think people are haunted more than places. Some people are just more apt to see ghosts. Take my family for example. We all see something daily in our house, and we built our house. We’ve seen things in every house we’ve lived in. Some people can come to our house and never see a thing.

Some people are fascinated with the unknown and they see ghosts as a link to it. Other people just like to think that they still have their family with them. I think it’s different with everybody. But WATCH THE VIDEO!!!! This was filmed in Blue Ridge and is totally true. =)

I need a heroooo

In the Shrek video, there are a lot of heroes. Obviously, Shrek is a hero, but Fiona is a hero too and so are Donkey and Prince Charming. Shrek saves Fiona, Fiona saves Shrek, Donkey saves Shrek, Prince Charming saves Shrek… Apparently Shrek needs a lot of saving. To me, a hero is somewhere that puts themselves in danger to protect someone else. Prince Charming jumps in front of the Fairy Godmother’s lightning bolt to save Shrek. Shrek runs over a burning bridge to save Fiona and Donkey. Beowulf is similar to these characters because he endangers himself to protect Herot and the people in it from Grendel and his mother.

I can be your hero baby =)

I chose this video because Enrique is talking about how he would be this girl’s hero. Meaning that he would do anything for her and put himself in danger to save her. Now THAT is what women want =D.

How do you feel?

Well, we used blogs in class last year and I thought it was a pretty cool idea. But after using it for a whole semester, I decided that I don’t like this. Most of the time we use the blogs, we will be sitting in the classroom. If we are already around all the people we’ll be talking to about the assignment, why not actually talk to them instead of type to them? I do understand that people are shy though and won’t speak out in class. But people skills are an important life quality. I think we should work on those. =)

I think that this would be a good way to do assignments if we weren’t doing it in class. But it is different, so I guess it’ll be fun.
